On August 6, Kiara Bowling was struck by a car in Oakland while out walking a friend’s emotional support dog. She suffered serious brain injuries and has been receiving care at Highland Hospital.
Kiara was accepted into Harvard pre-law and was headed to school in two weeks. She was recently crowned Ms. Greater Bay Area — she’s someone who shows up for her community, again and again. Kiara has been a key part of the Aurora team as a manager and administrative assistant, and has become part of the Aurora family.
Kiara’s family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover medical bills and the cost of her ongoing care. If you’re able to give, even a small amount helps — and if you’re not, please share the link with your friends, family and colleagues.

This summer, we’ve been there: supporting Foodtopia in Hayward, participing in Taste of San Leandro, partnering with Tandi Family Farms at their Bus Garden Tour & After Party, and we look forward to sponsoring the Fall Prevention Walk on September 29th. From local growers to wellness initiatives, we’re committed to nourishing our neighbors—one meal at a time.

Tandi Family Farms empowers community through their Victory Garden Project, reviving the WWII-era model to offer free, ecosystem-based home gardening. Since 2024, they’ve served 440+ families, transforming 3.5 acres into thriving gardens and harvesting over 6,000 lbs of fresh produce. Their mission: build self-reliance and biodiversity, proving strength grows from the soil to the soul. Aurora is proud to be the caterer for Tandi Farms Harvest Fest. Come out to the Evergreen Nursery and enjoy some small bites alongside cocktails while supporting this community garden!

OUR 2026 SUMMER INTERN!
Christina is a high school student and marketing intern at Aurora Catering. She conducts market research, edits CityScoop Articles, and drafts messages sent out through emails. Outside of Aurora Catering, she enjoys reading, playing piano, and going on walks.
THE INTERN THAT NEVER LEFT
Andrew joined Aurora as an intern in 2021 and came back as our Project Manager. He helped with the internship program that’ll train the next Andrew. He also finished his degree at UC Davis — and this fall he’s off to NYU for a Master’s in Public Health. We are excited that Andrew continues to work with Aurora remotely.
